Defective Medical Devices

Judy Wood and Amina Diaz discuss many of today's hot immigration topics on immigration like Service or Relationship with the U.S. issues. Some of the special immigrant classifications are based on either prior service to the United States or a special relationship with the U.S. These classifications include employees of the U.S. government abroad, international organization officers and employees, noncitizen members of the U.S. military and certain residents and employees of the Panama Canal Zone. For each of these special immigrant classifications, eligibility criteria must be met before status can be granted.
Judy and Amina also cover issues that affect all Illegal Entrants and Immigration Violators. Certain people are "inadmissible" for purposes of entry into the United States, either as an immigrant or as a visitor. There are many reasons why a person could be considered inadmissible to receive a visa and enter the United States, including that the person has already entered the United States illegally or has committed another violation of the immigration laws.
This category of inadmissibility may be subject to "waiver" upon the meeting of certain requirements as determined by the Immigration and Naturalization Act (INA), the U.S. Customs and Immigration Service (USCIS), and applicable immigration regulations.
In general, someone who has entered the United States without going through the proper immigration channels, such as a smuggler or stowaway, is inadmissible. There are exceptions to this rule, such as battered women and children. In addition, people who entered the United States through the immigration channels but falsified documents or misrepresented the facts are inadmissible.
They share the personal story with one of their clients, who appear on the show, Antonio Guiterrez-Pedroza and his family, who through Judy's offices, applied for a "Cancellation of Removal" and were eventually successful in qualifying for this "Cancellation of Removal". The Guiterrez-Pedroza's are now permanent residents of the U.S.

Ms. Holley was previously the Managing Partner of the Los Angeles office of The Cochran Firm and the head of its national Criminal Defense Section. With more than sixty trials to her credit, Ms. Holley is the rare trial attorney who practices in the areas of both civil and criminal litigation. She was a highly visible member of the O.J. Lois has been representing clients in complex litigation of all types since joining the Proskauer Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Department some 30 years ago. Initially based in New York, Lois moved to Los Angeles in 1987 so that Firm clients in California could more easily avail themselves of her wide litigation experience. That experience includes securities, antitrust, complex real estate and construction, and intellectual property matters, as well as employment law litigation. Lois also has defended and prosecuted claims of unfair competition for businesses in a wide range of areas, including the automotive industry, direct marketing, and video distribution.
For the last three years she has been involved in proceedings to determine the property and rental income losses sustained as a consequence of the destruction of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. In the securities law area, Lois' experience encompasses the defense of '33 and '34 Act class actions and derivative suits in which she has had occasion variously to represent the issuer, directors (or general partners) and professional advisors. She also has had extensive experience representing targets and witnesses in SEC investigations and, as independent counsel, has conducted internal investigations for boards of directors whose companies were the subject of shareholder derivative actions and regulatory investigations.
Lois is also a board member of the California Women's Law Center (CWLC). CWLC works to ensure, through systemic change, that life opportunities for women and girls are free from unjust social, economic, and political constraints. Women and girls suffer harm as a result of multiple characteristics, including race, sexual orientation, age, class and disability. The injustices that may be a result of these characteristics are complex and cannot be addressed effectively without recognizing their relationship to one another.
