Featuring cases… Raymond v. County of Sacramento and Lopez v. Disabled American Veterans Charities

Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood, LLP, founded over 28 years ago, has established itself as Sacramento's most successful law firm for ordinary people. Today, The Insider Exclusive – along with Roger Dreyer, Joseph Babich and Noemi Esparza – takes an inside look at one of Sacramento's – and California's – most successful law firms and their handling of two important cases: Raymond v. County of Sacramento and Lopez v. Disabled Veterans Charities.

Roger, Joseph and Noemi fight for the underdog. They fight for you. People like Shannon Raymond, a mother of four and the plaintiff in Raymond v. County of Sacramento, who was injured when her car was crushed by the counterweight on the Walnut Grove Bridge that spans the Sacramento River. The counterweight smashed the roof of Shannon's car down to about the steering wheel level. A back injury she suffered in the accident forced Shannon to also undergo a painful lumbar fusion. Or Maria Lopez, the plaintiff in Lopez v. Disabled American Veterans Charities, who was broadsided by a drunk driver operating a 20,000-pound truck on behalf of Disabled American Veterans Charities. The driver came to work intoxicated – and was still allowed to work! Maria suffered severe brain damage and numerous hospitalizations because of these devastating injuries. Medical records further documented the scope of Maria's injuries, resulting in one of the largest jury awards in the history of Fresno County.

The attorneys of Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood, LLP, have represented thousands of clients — from the very poor to the owner of the Oakland Raiders', Al Davis. Roger Dreyer has won more than $100 million for his clients, including 24 cases with at least $1 million in collection. A lot of lawyers profess success, but only Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood, LLP, has established a distinguished and consistent track record of successful injury victim representation spanning over 20 years. One of the reasons for their success is persuading the jury to see the real truth in every case. And persuading the jury shows that our trial system isn't broken – it really works. And it's worked in all kinds of cases like personal injury and wrongful death cases, vehicle accidents, dangerous products, job-related injuries, construction accidents, dangerous roadways, and trucking accidents.

As advocates for the people, it's important to fight for a cause: to fight for the rights of victims and champion the underdog against corporate power and greed. Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood, LLP, has built an international reputation by securing more record-breaking verdicts and settlements than any firm in the country.

Roger A. Dreyer has tried in excess of 100 jury trials to conclusion with over twenty of those trials exceeding seven figures. He has represented a diverse client base ranging from the poor to the National Football League's Oakland Raiders and Al Davis in their successful trial verdict over the Oakland Alameda County Coliseum in 2003. He has been recognized by his peers as the Trial Lawyer of the Year for the State of California in 2004 and as one of the Top 100 Super Lawyers of Northern California, the only such personal injury trial attorney in the Sacramento region to be so recognized. He has achieved resolution of cases for his clients exceeding 100 million dollars, including more than 100 verdicts and settlements exceeding seven figures. He specializes in catastrophic losses and wrongful death matters. Roger is also involved in community activities and since 1998, has served as the former Chair of the Board and as a current Board member for the Child Abuse Prevention Council of Sacramento as well as spending time managing Little League and coaching soccer for the past 12 years in which his four children participate. He was recognized in 2002 by the Non-profit Resource Center, Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce as the Outstanding Board Leader.

Joseph J. Babich is a founding partner of the law firm of Dreyer Babich Buccola Wood. After receiving his Bachelor's degree from the University of California at Berkeley in 1977 and his Juris Doctorate degree from Hastings College of the Law in 1980, he was admitted to the State Bar of California in December of 1980. After a brief stint as a Deputy District Attorney for the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office, he began practicing plaintiffs' personal injury law wherein he has exclusively represented injured clients. Joseph has been very active in various trial lawyer associations such as the Consumer Attorneys of California where he served on its Board between 1995 and 1998. He also has served as President for the Sacramento Consumer Attorneys in 1993 and was honored as their selection for Advocate of the Year for his outstanding trial results in 2003.

Noemi Esparza currently works directly with Roger Dreyer and Christopher Wood representing injured victims. Prior to working as an attorney, Ms. Esparza worked as Public Policy Program Manager for the California Partnership to End Domestic Violence, a statewide domestic violence coalition in Sacramento. Noemi also served as Legislative Director to former Assemblymember Simon Salinas. Noemi also volunteered for many years with the Sacramento Court Appointed Special Advocates Program where she advocated in court for the best interests of children in the foster care system.
